My beautiful cousin Della was diagnosed with ALS in spring 2023. She died on New Years Day 2025. In the short time she had, and from the moment of her diagnosis, Della fought fiercely to raise awareness of this cruel disease. She raised funds, spoke at conferences, met with senators on Capitol Hill, and shared her daily struggles online--always with honesty, compassion, joy, and a determined hope that we will find a cure. The ALS Therapy Development Institute shares that hope. As the only nonprofit research lab that is focused solely on ALS, they are on a mission to end this 100 percent fatal neurodegenerative disease. Della knew that the research she raised money for would not save her life, but she believed wholeheartedly that it will help others. That's why I'm riding in the Tri-State Trek again this year.
