About Us
The ride to end ALS.
The Tri-State Trek is a fully supported weekend bike ride that travels through three states. Its mission is to raise funds for ALS research at the
ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI)
. As the Drug Discovery Engine for ALS, we will continue to discover and invent drugs until there are treatments for everyone with ALS.
Every summer the bike ride provides a way for hundreds of riders and volunteers from across the United States to take back some control from a horrible disease. We fundraise, connect with our Trek family, celebrate life, remember those we've lost, and support ALS TDI's mission to discover treatments and cures for ALS.

Mission
ALS is not incurable, it's underfunded.
The Tri-State Trek's mission is to raise funds for ALS research at the
ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI)
. Every dollar raised goes directly to ALS TDI to find treatments for
ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease
. Together we will end ALS.

History
The Tri-State Trek began in 2003, when 16 cyclists pedaled from Boston to New York and raised $30,000 for ALS research.
The event grew to a 270-mile course with over 450 participants and raised over $10 million. At their own pace, riders would cycle a fully supported, tri-state marked course starting at Boston College, Chestnut Hill, and finishing with a victory ride down Greenwich Avenue and picnic on the banks of the Long Island Sound. Year after year, riders, crew, and volunteers return to visit their “Trek Family” and new faces share their story and join the fight. In 2023, to improve the rider experience, the Trek location and route have changed to travel through the states of NH, ME, and MA. Despite these exciting changes, the mission to end ALS and our sense of #trekfamily remain key to the event.
Who is ALS TDI?
At the
ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI)
it is our sole mission is to discover and develop treatments for
amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
as quickly as possible. ALS TDI is the most comprehensive drug discovery lab dedicated to ALS research. As one of the world's only nonprofit biotech companies, we are led by drug development experts and people with ALS.
Our scientific team created
tegoprubart
, a potential treatment for ALS that is now in clinical trials. We've also pioneered the first
ALS Precision Medicine Program
to help identify more potential treatments faster. Our team is working on an urgent basis to identify more potential treatments and make them available to people living with ALS.
