14 Years of Trek'ing
In 2011 I relented. I bought a road bike and decided to pull the trigger and sign up for the Trek. A slew of miles, a mess of pickles, too many shock blocks, 3 years of pandemic and here are. A dozen years of involvement. Please join me as I ride 100 miles during this July within Mass to support the ALSTDI in their mission to find an effective treatment for ALS - or Lou Gehrig's Disease - because of our friend Steve Saling who was diagnosed with ALS in 2006.A few facts about ALS/ALSTDI:Every 90 minutes someone is diagnosed with ALS in the US86% of each dollar raised is put directly in to TDI’s research effortsEach drug therapy study can cost $250,000, we keep 30+ ongoing drug studiesIt can take a year or longer to diagnose ALSAt least 450,000 people are living with ALS worldwideALS shows no prejudice. It effects people of all ages, race and ethnicities

Helping others who ride for those who no longer can.
Hi all,This year will be my lucky 13th year of participation of ALS-TDI Tri State Trek, a charity bike ride to fundraise for ALS research. ALS-TDI (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis-Therapy Development Institute) is a non-profit reseach organization who's goal is to develop treatment for ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) patient. Please support my effort toward fighting this debiltating disease. Your generous donations ensure the organization continues to perform groundbreaking research. Thank you. Love,T

Riding for those who no longer can
In June I will be riding for my EIGHTEENTH year with the TriState Trek. Once again we will be doing loops in Durham, NH. We will still get in three different states, but it’ll be Mass, Maine and NH!In 2014 we lost a good friend, Dean Allison, to ALS. I will once again be riding his bicycle on the Trek, and I’ll carry his memory with me this year and every year until we can stop this disease!ALS has also touched my family directly. A close family member was diagnosed with ALS in 2021 and sadly she lost her fight against ALS. After so many years doing this ride, having it hit my family makes it even MORE personal than it already was.ALS/TDI has made great strides in finding drugs and treatments to fight this terrible disease. ALS/TDI was the first nonprofit biotech in any disease to develop a potential treatment, AT-1501, and bring it from their own labs, through FDA review and into clinical trial. Please donate what you can to help ALS/TDI raise funds to continue with their current trials to hopefully help the people living with ALS now and eventually eradicate this disease so we never have to hear of another ALS diagnosis.

ALS is not an incurable disease, it is an underfunded one
Raising awareness about ALS has been one of our most important causes, ever since our friend Steve Saling was diagnosed with ALS back in 2006. Until then, we hadn't been touched by ALS personally and we struggled to find opportunities to show our support. We stumbled upon the Trek in 2007 and the rest is history. In the 20 years we've been riding, our team of passionate, beer-loving knuckleheads has grown exponentially and raised over $600,000 for ALS research to date, thanks in large part to our exceptionally generous community of supporters. We feel strongly that ALS is not an incurable disease, it is merely an underfunded one. While events like the ice-bucket challenge helped bring greater awareness of the disease, those living with ALS and the researchers at ALS TDI need our ongoing support to find a cure more than ever.If you’re able to donate this year, any amount helps, and we are truly grateful for your support of a cause that means so much to us.Many thanks,Gabe and Adam Cohen

In Memory of Zip Ribaric, with Love
2006 was my first year riding the Tri State Trek for ALS. I am extremely grateful for the chance to do it again in 2026, nearly 20 years on. This year I will bike two 35-mile loop rides on Saturday and Sunday, June 27-28 from the beautiful University of New Hampshire. I have great memories from doing the Trek over the years. These include meeting people who have confronted the unimaginable cruelty of ALS, for themselves or a loved one. Against this backdrop, there is an enveloping aura of love, friendship, and shared hope that blooms for one weekend every summer. I am so grateful for all my Trek friends, family and donors that make this possible, and for the daily work done at the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALSTDI, Watertown MA; EIN # 04-3462719).Those personal memories are the real treasure we accrue in life. Besides all the physical suffering and mental anguish, the missed opportunities to make those memories is central to the travesty of ALS. We need to change that. Thank you for supporting me this year with a donation to the ALSTDI to help make that change happen. - Joe S
