What to Expect

The Tri-State Trek isn't just a cycling event; it's an amazing weekend that is designed to provide our riders and volunteers with an unforgettable experience.
Below are some important details to help you plan your weekend and make the most of your Trek experience.

Location

The University of New Hampshire, our vibrant base camp throughout the weekend, is widely recognized as one of the greenest college campuses in the country. Our dorm accommodations will be closely situated to the tented area where we will house registration, check-in, meals, evening programming, and bike storage/repair. For those who wish to explore, UNH is surrounded by nature trails and is within walking distance of downtown Durham.

  • All bedrooms are based on double occupancy. Private rooms are available for an additional fee.
  • Participants who do not select name a roommate during sign-up will be assigned a random roommate of the same gender.
  • All bedrooms will be part of a shared suite, meaning you will be sharing a bathroom and shower with one other room.

RSVP in Advance

Some aspects of the Trek weekend are available to all participants and volunteers but require advanced RSVP, during registration:
  • Friday night welcome celebration: When completing your registration, please indicate if you will be joining us for the Friday night welcome dinner and program. If you do not register in advance, you will not be able to join us for this event.
  • Dorm accommodations: anyone planning to stay in the UNH dorms must RSVP for one- or two-nights during registration. If you wish to request a specific roommate or request a single room for an additional fee, you must also include this information with your registration. Additional rooms and changes to room assignments will not be available during the Trek weekend.

Friday Welcome Celebration

For those who are planning to arrive on Friday, we will be hosting a Welcome Celebration at UNH. The Welcome Celebration will include a buffet style dinner with dessert and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. During the Welcome Celebration our staff will present you with an overview of the weekend and share important safety tips and updates for riders. Please note that all are encouraged to attend, but an RSVP is required when completing your event registration.

We Are Trek Family Saturday Night Program

Every year, we invite people to speak during our Open Mic at the We Are Trek Family Program on Saturday evening. Speaking is optional, and allows guests to share why they ride, their ALS connection, and express what the Trek means to them. The stories shared during this program are often deeply emotional and an inspirational reminder of the Trek's central mission — supporting research to end ALS. If you choose to speak, we ask that you please limit your speech to three minutes, so we have time to hear from everyone!
