Riding to end ALS

I am closer than ever to my goal of 10 years riding the ALS Therepy Development Institute Tri-State Trek. Will this be the year there is a cure for ALS?

This year will be my 9th ride and I plan to give my all over two days of riding because I know the scientists, staff and leadership at ALS TDI are hard at work giving their all to find a cure.

My training plan has been solid and I have only missed two days so far in the 12-week plan.

I have endured many different injuries over the years and this year is no different having suffered stitches and bruising in ride recently.  All is well and I finished.

My real goal is to bring and end to ALS that has plagued my family, many friends and so many others for far too long.

Being a member of Crush ALS/Team Bannon is a dream come true from supportive leadership and teammates to off season calls and meetups.  All of the other participants, volunteers and patients with ALS and their families .

...

I will ride two days memory of family and friends that died of ALS, to honor those that are fighting the disease and find effective patient treatments and most importantly a discover a cure.

This is the toughest athletic event I've completed. This year, Garrison Hill road is under construction and not part of the Trek.  While one of my training focusses is under repair the real mission is to save family, friends and honor the memory of all lost to ALS.

I'm excited to return to Durham New Hampshire and ride to Massachusetts and Maine to help the ALSTDI find a cure for ALS.

ALS TDI is at the leading edge of research and drug-development that is now in human trials.

I ride and fundraise because ALS has had a dramatic impact on my family for generations, including another immediate family member who has participated in the Trek suffering currently.  The insidious disease claimed my mother Mary Flynn Rooney, brother John Flynn Rooney and aunt Agnes Flynn McCoy and continues to have an impact on my family and likely will for generations until a cure is found.

Matt Creen, my brother EJ's brother-in-law, also is valiantly battling the disease. In May of 2020 we lost an amazing ALS Advocate my sister-in-law Meg Clarke Rooney (my brother John’s wife) who also inspires me to fight for cure.

I have a goal of raising $2,500 and would be thrilled to exceed that. Team Bannon Crush ALS is in memory of Chuck Bannon and has raised over $1 million dollars since its 2009.

With your support we can Crush ALS.

Thank you, Love

Tim
