ALS TDI was founded by the family of someone with ALS to help find treatments and advance research into the causes of the disease, which are still mostly unknown. We do it all with funds donated mostly by people with ALS and their families and friends. We work to discover treatments in our lab, and also evaluate the effectiveness of treatments discovered by others, all with the goal of getting therapies into clinical trials. Drugs we discover or validate, having been proven promising and possibly profitable, can then be handed off to for-profit companies capable of raising the hundreds of millions of dollars required to run human clinical trials.  Even preclinical drug research is very very expensive though – so every dollar counts. Any help you'd be willing to provide will get us closer to finding a cure for this devastating disease.

Hey there! My name is Alan :) I'm a researcher at ALS TDI! We are a non-profit lab solely focused on ALS research. Our aims are to discover and develop treatments for those living with this devastating disease. It's a complex disease biologically, but we are working hard to understand it better and get to those treatments that are so desperately needed. This is my 10th time riding (I think) and I'm so excited to meet all the trekkers this year in scenic NH! Anything you can contribute, no matter how big or small, is super appreciated! #endALS

Hello! My name is Val and I have been a researcher at ALS TDI since 2010. ALS TDI is a nonprofit biotech lab dedicated to researching ALS therapies (Lou Gehrig's Disease). I do molecular biology in the lab and manage our small but growing zebrafish program. I actually wasn't sure if I'd be able to ride this year; I have an ongoing knee injury that is managed enough so that I can ride 30 miles each day so I am stoked to be able to participate! We have a saying which goes "ALS isn't incurable; it's underfunded". The Trek is one of our biggest fundraising events and I am gratefully asking for donations to fund our scientific research.
