This summer I am crewing my 9th Tri-State Trek and RIDING for the third time (Day 1& 2 30-mile route!) to support ALS research at the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI). Please consider helping me hit my goal! 

ALS TDI was founded by the family of someone with ALS to help find treatments and advance research into the causes of the disease, which are still mostly unknown. We do it all with funds donated mostly by people with ALS and their families and friends. We work to discover treatments in our lab, and also evaluate the effectiveness of treatments discovered by others, all with the goal of getting therapies into clinical trials. Drugs we discover or validate, having been proven promising and possibly profitable, can then be handed off to for-profit companies capable of raising the hundreds of millions of dollars required to run human clinical trials.  Even preclinical drug research is very very expensive though – so every dollar counts. Any help you'd be willing to provide will get us closer to finding a cure for this devastating disease.

This summer we are riding 100 miles to find an effective treatment for ALS. That doesn't even include training! Please support our efforts.

For the last 7 years I have been doing a multi-state charity ride to help fund a cure for ALS. This year the ride will go through NH, MA, and ME covering 200 miles in 2 days. The ride is June 24th & 25th. ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and in the spinal cord. Most people that are diagnosed with ALS are given a 3-5 year prognosis. ALS is not an incurable disease, it is just under-funded!This year I am hoping to raise $2,000 for ALS. 22 family members should not have to die from the same awful disease...that is why I joined ALS TDI to #EndALS not only in my family but also for those living with it. This will be my 2nd Trek. Jay will have his own dedicated mile sign, and I will be there cheering and supporting our riders. Hey there! My name is Alan :) I'm a researcher at ALS TDI! We are a non-profit lab solely focused on ALS research. Our aims are to discover and develop treatments for those living with this devastating disease. It's a complex disease biologically, but we are working hard to understand it better and get to those treatments that are so desperately needed. Hello! My name is Val and I have been a researcher at ALS TDI since 2010. ALS TDI is a nonprofit biotech lab dedicated to researching ALS therapies (Lou Gehrig's Disease). I do molecular biology in the lab and manage our small but growing zebrafish program. I have ridden in the Tri-State Trek since 2012...which means my Trek count is officially a tweenager. Eleven years of riding in every type of summer (and not-so-summery) weather imaginable (plus one year indoors), eleven years of open mic night, cheering at the top of John Street, jumping into the ocean, pulling into rest stops to the sound of cowbells, stopping by breweries, playing frisbee, dancing on the side of the road while changing flat tires...you name it, we've done it during the Trek weekend. We have a saying which goes "ALS isn't incurable; it's underfunded". The Trek is one of our biggest fundraising events and I am humbly asking for donations to fund our scientific research. You can also choose to help by sharing, passing the word on to one of your cycling friends, or joining the ride! You can also join virtually with our Trek Your Way option, even if you're not a cyclist. You can ride, run, swim, do adaptive sports, walk, roll, jump rope, e-bike, or whatever you want to raise money for ALS research. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! That engine is fueled by support from an amazing grassroots community.Through ALS TDI's Tri-State Trek, we at ALS TDI come together with many of our supporters through a challenging, sometimes grueling, bike ride to raise money and awareness to support the drug discovery research that happens at ALS TDI. We've invented and advanced one drug of our own into human ALS clinical trials; and our science program has supported the advancement of multiple others as well. But this progress isn't enough.
