I'm In!!

~~When Andrew, my best friend (and big brother), was diagnosed with ALS in July of 2016, I felt like I was frozen - sadness, confusion, frustration, anger, fear, and a myriad of other emotions flew through me all at once, and the end result? Helplessness... I felt helpless.  I had only a modicum of knowledge regarding ALS, but I knew enough, and I was reeling.  Our friendship and brotherhood was, in large part, centered around two common loves: family and sports (and music and beer, but we’ll focus on family and sports for now).  Really, our relationship played out as one long string of athletic and physical endeavors, a journey we took, almost invariably, together.  But Andrew led the way, as big brothers do (albeit somewhat forced), and that was a responsibility he took seriously, carrying it all the way through our lives and into his diagnosis with ALS.  Andrew was at the time, and continues to be assured, graceful, hopeful, and powerful.  He inspires me to learn, and to hope, and to work for a better tomorrow for our family, and for everyone living with or touched by this disease.  There is much work to be done, but with the progress that has already been made, there is also much to be hopeful for... Now, as we approach year four of Team Niblock's participation in the Tri State Trek, another year has passed and Andrew continues to perservere and inspire.  Thanks in part to the money raised by the Trek (since its inception in 2003) for the ALS Therapy Development Institute (TDI), Andrew and many others living with ALS have had access to cutting edge care, and there is even more reason to be hopeful for the days and years to come. Unfortunately for those of us that love the ride, this year, like everything else in our lives right now, it's a little different - the 2020 physical trek had to be cancelled due to COVID-19-related concerns, but that doesn't mean we stopped riding!  The Tri-State Trek has become the My-State Trek.  Instead of a one-weekend ride, I have pledged to ride 270 miles by June 21st.  Team Niblock again includes Andrew's college roommates as well as many friends and family, and we continue to ride with the common goal to raise awareness and to fight back against ALS.  Please join me in supporting Team Niblock and the ALS TDI by making a donation here.  The amazing people at the ALS TDI are working with unwavering commitment towards finding effective treatment and a cure for all of those that need it.  I'm in!

I'm in!

It's that time of year again and my college roommates and I are riding the Tri-State Trek in support of our friend and teammate, Andrew Niblock.  While tremendous progress and awareness around ALS has occurred over the past few years, we want to continue to raise money to search for a cure. This summer I am joining up with Team Niblock to help find an effective treatment for ALS. Please consider supporting our team.

Our good friend, roommate, W&L rugby teammate, husband, father, teacher, and wonderful guy Andrew Niblock is bravely battling ALS.   This June, the boys (i.e., middle-aged men) of "The Annex" are joining up with Team Niblock to help beat ALS. We'll be riding 106 miles together, with full hearts.  We would greatly appreciate your support!

Riding with friends and family who make this journey remarkable

In July 2016 I was diagnosed with ALS. Since that moment I have savored every day of the journey. I cherish and celebrate my friends, family, work, and play. For three years I gathered with so many of my favorite people to join the effort to support awareness and funding for the science in the fight against ALS. We also had a lot of fun doing it! We were successful by any measure, both in participation and in fundraising. Team Niblock has raised nearly 300k and last year we crossed the finish line more 100 riders strong! Let's keep the momentum going!  This is where you can help. Join us! Dust off the bike and ride. Support our team and this fight financially. It makes a real difference. I am so grateful to be able to play a role. Thank You, Andrew
