This summer I will be participating in a 270 miles bike trek from Boston to New York to help raise money for ALS research(Lou Gehrig ‘s disease). This is an annual event that my ALS Therapy Development Institute ( ALS TDI)  , (www.als.net),  organized every year.  Last year, more than 400 riders participated in this event, and this year, it looks like we are well on our way to surpass that number.   Those of you that know me well know that this is one the most physically challenging thing that I have ever attempted to do.  Over the last 15 years, I have been honored to have met a number of ALS patients who have challenged themselves to battle this disease.  Although some have lost this battle, others are still fighting daily against the effects of this horrible disease. That is why, this year, I decided to take on the challenge of this bike trek to honor those people who cannot ride anymore. Today, I ask for your help in order to support my fundraising efforts.  100% of the money raised will fund our ALS research.  ALS TDI has made great advances in understanding ALS disease, and we are closer than ever to finding a successful ALS treatment.  However, the work will not be done until we find a cure for this devastating disease.  I hope I can count on your support and generosity. David Wong, my brother never got bitter about dealing with ALS but there were tough challenges. Every 90 minutes someone hears from their neurologist,  "You have 2-5 years to live".  But we can change that by developing better effective treatments. Every since my wife starting working for ALS TDI I have been so moved by the positivity and courage of those affected by ALS and I see why that is since ALS TDI gives them the hope they need.  This summer I am riding 100 miles to find an effective treatment for ALS. Please support my efforts.  No donation is too small.

Every 90 minutes someone is diagnosed with ALS. This is not an incurable disease, only underfunded. This is my second year riding 270 miles to help raise money to find a cure for ALS. 

We're BAAAAACK!  The Trek and the Trekasaurus are alive and well!!  It may be a little different again, but this year we will be on the pavement for 100 miles in Massachusetts!!  I'm crazy, but not that crazy! I will be chasing, cheering and making these super hero riders smile for all 100 of those miles!   So, once again, please support me in the dinosaur costume while I support our RIDERS! Hey there! My name is Alan :) This will be my 6th trek and we're back in person! We were so lucky to have so much support last year for our virtual My State Trek, it kept our research going and now we can hold a physical ride this year too! It is "just" 100 miles this year, but we get to end at the lab in Watertown which is a neat bonus! I am always grateful for this community and all the support we get for our work. We have a lot we want to accomplish, and we're working hard everyday for everyone who has been and will be affected by this disease. As always, any amount you consider giving is much appreciated. I will be riding my 100 miles for the Trek in an advance of the event on June 26, 2021 as a means to "virtually" ride and support.   I will be there on June 26, 2021 to support all the riders who will be embarking on their century ride in support of ALS TDI's research program.   Asking all of my network to contribute to the cause so I can achieve my fundraising goal for this year's version of the Trek.  Our hope is that we can still fund cutting edge research with a pared down, socially distanced version for 2021, and return to full strength in 2022 for our 3-Day event from Boston to Greenwich, CT.    Any level of giving will help support our effort at ALS TDI to #ENDALS.   Mike  

On June 26, I am riding 100 miles in Massachusetts in honor of all of my friends living with ALS. I ride to support all of the brilliant researchers working to find effective treatments for ALS. While I have participated as a crew member at the Trek the last 4 years, I am thrilled to finally join the inspiring athletes on the road this summer to complete my very first Century Ride. Please support my efforts by donating what you can! 

This year we were only able to intivte 100 people to ride due to Covid-19 restrictions during our registration time frame. We rode a total of 100 miles in MA.  The first 50 miles, out and back, of the typical route.   It was still an amazing event and great to see all the folks that were able to attend. We ride in memory of the friends we have lost and in support of the families and friends that have to deal with this disease everyday.   I ride for Stephen Heywood.
