Think Safe!

Safety information for riders and crew.

Safety is our first concern. We need your help to make this event safe. We ride on open roads and there are inherent dangers and hazards. Please help us make sure your experience on the Trek is a safe one.

  • Stay well fed and well hydrated
  • Stay alert and aware at all times
  • Carry a safely stowed cell phone
  • Please use care when driving
  • Never park or live park on the route

Texting while driving is prohibited. Anyone seen texting while driving or riding will be asked to leave the event. Please note, in some states, you are prohibited from using your phone while driving unless you are using a hands-free device or function.

Riders Remember:

  • An approved SNELL or ANSI helmet is required
  • Ride responsibly, under control and always obey all traffic laws
  • Stop at all red lights
  • Stop at all stop signs
  • Use caution on railroad tracks
  • Never ride more than two abreast
  • Single file only on busy roads
  • Be courteous to drivers and yield to vehicle traffic
  • Use hand signals
  • Communicate (“On your left!”, “Stopping!”, “Car back!”)
  • Never pass on the right
  • Stay hydrated
  • Replace the salt! While drinking water, make sure to consume electrolytes/sodium/salt
  • Eat. Don’t want to wait until hungry! If your stomach is growling before you eat, your body won’t have enough energy to digest the food
