This year i decided to take the challenge...the challenge that many can't. I decided to ride in my first Tri State Trek with the Steam Rollers along side my Uncle. This is my Uncle's 5th Trek and together our team is riding the 270 miles over 3 days to help find an effective treatment for ALS.
For those of you who don't know what ALS, also known a Lou Gehrids disease, is please read the information provided by Tri State Trek. "It is a progressive, neurodegenerative disease that causes muscle weakness, difficulty breathing and swallowing, and paralysis while leaving the senses intact. ALS attacks certain cells in the brain and spinal cord needed to keep muscles moving. Most people survive two to five years after their diagnosis, with an estimated 30,000 people in the US and 450,000 worldwide living with the disease. Every 90 minutes, someone is diagnosed with ALS."
The Steam Rollors ride in memory of a family friend, Robin, who battled against ALS. Please consider donating, any amount helps. My personal goal is to raise $2,000+ for this ride. I am pushing myself to ride 270 miles to show my support... please considering showing yours as well.
