Hope Runs Deep - For a World Without ALS

- In memory of my Superman, Charles (Charlie) Bauer!

This summer I am riding 270 miles to find an effective treatment for ALS. Please support my efforts.  I ride in memory of Charles Roger Bauer, my husband, loving father of our then- fourteen year old daughter Grace, son to Roger and Jeanne Bauer of Texas, forever Naval shipmate, friend to many, and one of the funniest men I've ever known.  Charlie was dx with ALS in July of 2013, one month shy of his 40th birthday.  He battled this disease to the bitter end, never losing his insane sense of humor, even as the disease took every bit of function from his life - the ability to sing, to speak, to hold, to hug, to eat, to breathe, to walk, to communicate, and lastly, to live, losing his battle on October 12, 2016.  I ride because I can.  I ride because he couldn't, he can't, and now he never will - but maybe, just maybe, someone like him will be able to again, because I rode.  I ride for Charlie.  Please help me make sure his life made a difference...that he didn't suffer in vain.  Let's help find a cure for ALS.  Because we can, we must.
