Ride for ALS
Dear friends and colleagues,
Two years ago I rode in the ALS Trek, a 270-mile bike ride from Boston to Greenwich, CT. (Pic below is finish line from 2013, proof that I did finish!) I’ll be at it again this year with the Crush ALS/Team Bannon team starting June 26 for three days.
The ALS TDI Tri-State Trek raises money and brings attention to the work ALS TDI is doing to find an effective treatment for a horrific disease. The Trek began in 2003, when 16 cyclists pedaled from Boston to New York and raised about $30k for ALS research. The event has since grown to 400 participants, raising over six million dollars.
As many of you know, I have several personal connections to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, losing both my brother and the mother of my closest childhood friends. Their legacies provide me with much inspiration throughout the three day ride. Now, what’s most important is to help find effective treatment and a cure for this dreadful disease. The ALS Therapy Development Institute and its scientists actively discover and develop treatments for ALS. Based in Cambridge, MA, it is the world's first and largest nonprofit biotech focused 100 percent on ALS research.
Last year, our 12-person team was the largest fundraising team in the Trek, raisingover $125,000. Our goal this year is $150,000.
Everyone has demands on their charitable giving, especially now. But this is a disease which has historically limited funding and where there is now real momentum toward realizing the goal. If you are willing and able to make a donation, please join me in making a contribution to help fight this devastating disease. You can donate online by clicking on the link below. The website also provides a link to enable donations by check.
Your consideration and support are truly appreciated.
